Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with practical skills and knowledge that prepare them for specific careers and industries. Our VET programs combineclassroom learning with hands-on experience to help students develop job-ready skills in areas such as hospitality, construction, health, technology, and more.

By participating in VET courses, students can gain nationally recognised qualifications, improve their career opportunities, and make a smooth transition from school to the workforce or further study. VET is ideal for students who prefer learning through real-world applications and want to build pathways to a successful future.

VET Courses offered at Riverstone High School :

Entertainment Industry
This course introduces students to skills used in film, theatre, music, and event production. Students gain hands-on experience with lighting, sound, stage management, and multimedia. It is beneficial for those interested in creative careers and provides practical skills for entry-level roles or further study in the arts.

Construction Pathways
Students learn fundamental construction skills, including carpentry, bricklaying, and project planning. The course combines classroom knowledge with workshop experience, preparing students for apprenticeships or direct employment in the construction industry.

Sports Coaching
This class focuses on coaching techniques, sports science, and team management. It is ideal for students passionate about sports and fitness, providing skills that can lead to careers in coaching, sports management, or community recreation

Fitness
Students study exercise physiology, training programs, and client health assessments. The course prepares students for roles as fitness instructors or personal trainers and supports further education in health and wellness fie

Hospitality Food and Beverage

This practical course teaches skills in food preparation, customer service, and beverage management. It is perfect for students aiming to work in cafes, restaurants, or hospitality venues, offering qualifications recognised nationally.

Construction Workshop
In this hands-on class, students develop practical skills in using tools and machinery safely to create construction projects. The workshop environment helps students build confidence and competence valuable for construction trades.

As part of the Nirimiba Collegiate, our students have the opportunity to travel to the Vocational Innovation Centre at Seven Hills High School and access additional VET subjects in a state-of-art purpose built facility. This collaboration expands the range of courses available and provides students with a broader learning experience.
