Textiles technology builds upon the practical skills learnt in technology mandatory, allowing students to combine creativity with their design skills. Students gain experience in using sewing machines, hand tools and a variety of fabrics and fibres to make a range of textile craft products.
Units that may be studied during the elective include:
- Structure and manufacture of textiles
- Patchwork and quilting
- Dyeing
- Weaving
- Knitting and Crochet
- Embroidery
- Garment Construction
- Felting
- Textile art
Course duration: 1 year (100 hours) available in Year 9 only.
Pre-requisites: Nil.
Equipment required: Black leather enclosed shoes, plastic sleeve folder.
Fee: $50. This covers the cost of most materials required, although students may be required to purchase some of the materials required for specific individual projects.
