Online Learning Update 10/9

school

Good morning,

As we prepare to finish Week 9 of a very long term, we hope you all have plans to have a rest and relax over the weekend. With one more week of term to go and at least 5 more weeks of online learning next term, it is important that we pace ourselves and ensure we prioritise getting outside and connecting with our family and friends in any way we can. Yesterday was ‘R U OK Day’ and this has been a fantastic reminder to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. If you didn’t get a chance yesterday, take time to check in with someone today and ask them if they are doing okay. Once you start a conversation, try and keep it going. A conversation can save a life.

Yesterday, the Premier announced a Roadmap’ out of lockdown for NSW. This largely does not impact the return to school plan that was published previously. Importantly, the roadmap discusses the importance of vaccination rates within the community and the connection between these rates and freedom from restrictions. It has been fantastic to see such high rates of vaccination within the Blacktown LGA. As we see this grow in connection with a reduction of case numbers, we can hopefully begin to work our way back to a new normal. We eagerly await further information about access to vaccines for 12-15 year old young people as we know this will be an important factor in keeping everyone safe.

Parent Feedback Survey

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete our short feedback survey on online learning. If you have not already done so, click HERE to answer some quick questions about how your child/ren have been managing learning from home. This survey is anonymous. If you would like us to follow up with you in regards to a specific comment/idea, please put your name next to your comment.

Student Feedback Survey

We know that lots of students have been eager to also provide some feedback on online learning. You can access a student specific survey by clicking HERE

Year 11 Assessments

Well done to Year 11 on completing Week 1 of a 2 week Assessment Period. Please remember all examinations and assessments are compulsory. Failure to be present in an examination online will result in a zero grade. You should be joining the Adobe Connect at least 15 minutes prior to the examination time. Thank you also to the families of our Year 11 students. Creating examination conditions at home can be very difficult when we are all working and learning from home and we appreciate your efforts.

SASS Recognition Week

These week we have been recognising the significant work of our Student Administration and Support Staff. These people are pivotal to our school, ensuring that students are well supported, cared for and that all of our systems run smoothly. We know our entire school community joins us in thanking;

Kellie, Trudy, Rebecca, Michelle P, Pauline, Deb, Verena, Thayna, Janette, Sarah P, Carolyn P, Leanne, Michelle B, Sarah B, Ana, Anne, Ray & Scott!

National History Week

Thank you to all the students who have joined with us in celebrating National History Week. It has been a great opportunity to recognise our local history and get out and about to explore what has happened in our own neighbourhoods. Check out our School Instagram page for more details.
