Careers

The Careers Resource Room is always available for access for all students. The Career's Advisor can assist students by providing them with current information that will help them explore their options for the future.

Students are encouraged to increase their knowledge of the pathways they can take into further education or employment by using the resources in the Careers Department.

Students begin Careers lessons in Year 10 where the '7 habits of highly effective people' are implemented into their learning. Year 10 complete the Work Experience program and participate in other programs such as School to Work, where they learn and develop the skills needed to seek and obtain employment opportunities. White card training is also provided to any student interested working on a construction site.

The Careers Advisor supports students by providing them with a range of possible avenues they can pursue and by preparing them to achieve success when they leave school. They provide students with relevant resources to help them make informed decisions about what to do post their school career at Riverstone High School.

The Careers Advisor also supports students in creating resumes, finding employment and applying for employment, further study and financial assistance such as applying for scholarships. They are very knowledgeable about the entry requirements for tertiary study and are also well connected with local employers, community agencies and training providers.
