Information for Year 10 Students attending Wyndham College 2022
Wyndham College is currently requesting applications for Platinum Club. Platinum Club is a program designed for high potential and gifted students. The program has limited places and all year 10 students interested should apply immediately.
Platinum Club is a stream of aspirational and hardworking students who are grouped together for some of their subjects to make sure their potential is maximised. An intensive curriculum is delivered through the Platinum Program that enriches and extends the students learning, with the goal of achieving great results in the HSC and securing entry to University, TAFE or the tertiary study of their choice. Platinum club is not about extra work or pressure, it is about achieving goals and staying focused.
The Program aims to develop the talent and potential of students in one or more domains including: intellectual, creative, physical or social-emotional. Students from our Platinum Club enjoy being challenged academically within the setting of a local, comprehensive, adult style learning environment.
Platinum students have dedicated mentors and an experienced Year Adviser overseeing their academic progress and supporting their wellbeing, attendance and motivation through regular and special Connect sessions.
Benefits of Platinum Club
Platinum students are given opportunities to participate in academic, enrichment and leadership programs that may lead to early entry and scholarships to university. Students are grouped with 'like-minded' peers who are able to challenge and motivate each other in classes.
Students must apply to be in Platinum Club and are carefully selected by a panel for inclusion in the program. Platinum classes are taught by experienced teachers who are passionate about delivering curriculum for fast learners. You will be informed in writing whether your application has been successful at the end of Term 4.
Some of the strategies used for differentiation at Wyndham College included accelerated classes, extension classes, enrichment programs, and compacted curriculum delivery leaving room for targeted tutorials and workshops. As a result of this, the school maximizes the HSC and ATAR results and post school destination offers for Platinum students.
